Given the growing number of young people with adverse effects to certain medications, Windermere Pediatrics has decided to adopt a new policy regarding monitoring the vital signs of patients using certain stimulant medications, such as those used for the treatment of ADHD or ADD. We would like to briefly review the vital signs (pulse, blood pressure, weight) every two months, as well as ask a few questions regarding the medications side effects. At this visit, we will provide the parent with two prescriptions, or provide alternatives if vital signs show adverse side effects.
We realize that the change may be be often difficult to implement, but we trust that our patients, parents, and guardians will understand the reason behind the monitoring and fine tuning of psychostimulant treatment options.
